Safety Analysis

The Safety Analysis criteria is utilized to determine if an In-Home or Out-of-Home Safety Plan may control the danger threats and sufficiently protect the child.

In-Home

An in-home safety plan will safely protect the child. The parents have demonstrated that they will respect and adhere to the actions necessary to protect their child.

Out-of-Home

The conditions for return will be met when the parents have demonstrated a true willingness to adhere to the actions necessary to protect their child; specifically, the parents will not prevent the grandmother from coming to the home to protect the child. In addition, the parents will maintain stable housing for an in-home safety plan to be possible.

Conditions for Return (CFR)

The Conditions for Return specifically outlines what must occur for a child to be able to return to the home. Case management must simply describe how the family can turn the safety analysis criteria from a NO response to a YES

Example:

The conditions for return will be met when both the mother and father demonstrate they will respect and adhere to the actions outlined in the in-home safety plan. The parents will not interfere with any safety plan actions. All the individuals performing safety plan actions have a true willingness to ensure the safety plan protects the children and will not allow the parents to prevent them from performing the safety actions.

Example:

The conditions for return will be met when the home environment is calm and consistent enough that the children may remain in the home without compromising child safety. The home environment will not contain any hazardous conditions. If the parents remain in the home, they will not be intoxicated, belligerent, violent, or display any other concerning behaviors while in the home.

Example:

The conditions for return will be met when the parents are able to provide the case manager with the names and contact information of individuals who may participate in the safety plan. The case manager will assess if the individuals are responsible, aligned with child safety, and readily available to perform safety plan actions.

Example:

The conditions for return will be met when the results of the professional evaluation describes the diminished caregiver protective capacities and identifies how the danger threats are posing a risk to the child. The case manager will utilize the professional evaluation results to determine how best to create safety actions to protect the children.

Example:

The conditions for return will be met when both the mother and father demonstrate to the case manager that there is a safe and stable home.
